Laid Back Attack XII Musician Line-up !!!
Jim Morris & The Big Bamboo Band
Sample Music: “Laid Back Attack”
The “Godfather of Trop-Rock” will be returning to Laid Back Attack with his entire band headlining the Saturday night schedule. Jim Morris is an articulate singer/songwriter with a devotion to storytelling. Whether it is a thoughtful ballad about doomed love or an anthem to a night of drunken revelry, the listener can always count on well-crafted songs with carefully drawn characters, clever lyrics, and satirical charm. He left the corporate world in 1996 to concentrate on his musical career and since then has released 24 CD’s of original music.
Don Middlebrook & The Pearl Divers
Don is returning to Laid Back Attack for the first time since 2005 and this will be the first time he has appeared in the Northwest with his band “The Pearl Divers”. Starting in 1991, Don began a musical quest up and down the west coast of Michigan with little idea of where it might lead. Always directed by a new song, a new adventure, and an occasional cold beer, what began as fun and frolic has turned into thirteen years of travel and musical bliss. Looking back over those last thirteen years, eight CDs have been recorded and over 150 dates played each year.
Brittany Kingery & Game Six
Brittany Kingery, and her supporting cast, vocalist Derek Harris and vocalist-songwriter Rob Morgan Hill of Game Six, all members of the Parrot Heads of Puget Sound, have exploded on the Trop-Rock scene in the past year. Their recent appearances at “Meeting of the Minds” have made them one of the most sought after acts in Trop-Rock. Brittany, originally from Olympia, recently moved to Bucerias, Mexico but she is returning to the Northwest for a very special “CD Release Party” at Laid Back Attack which will feature her entire eight piece band performing her long-awaited second CD.
Singer/songwriter Scott Kirby returns to Laid Back Attack having just released his 7th CD of original material “Sol Searching”. He continues to tour extensively around the country appearing at festivals, clubs and theatres, performing his brand of coastal inspired folk rock sometimes referred to as “beach folk.” One of the most requested artists on Sirius XM Radio Margaritaville, Kirby is quickly expanding his east coast fan base across the US and Canada, and in the past few months has begun receiving some substantial airplay and positive reviews in Europe, as well.

Mark is returning to Laid Back Attack for the first time since 2011. His latest CD called, appropriately enough, “Back to Laid Back” is the 12th CD recorded by this talented singer/songwriter. He grew up in the Phoenix area but eventually ended up south of the border, singing and writing songs for a living, raising his kids in a place he loves, spending time on the beach instead of in traffic, singing for people who dance to his tunes one night and the next day join him for charitable work with the “Castaway Kids”, a charity that was founded by Mark in 2006. Mark will headline the Thursday night show at LBA.

Dani Hoy, aka “TropiGal” is a perfect example of the adage “better late than never“. Her music paints a vulnerable and honest view of life in a beach-oriented spirit of fun and adventure. Dani’s widely anticipated 2nd full CD, “Songs of Love and the Ocean” has been released, once again in collaboration with Kevin Johnston. The two teamed up on her first project, “TropiGal”. She has been nominated for awards by the Trop Rock Music Association in 2012 and 2013. This will be Dani’s first visit to Laid Back Attack and gives her the distinction of being the first female artist to perform at Laid Back Attack.
Sam, who hails from Phoenix, AZ will be making his second appearance at Laid Back Attack. Sam performs an eclectic blend of “Mexatropaholic” and Trop Rock Music. A “Rocket Scientist” by day and a Trop Rocker in his soul, he writes and plays music in the US and Mexico. Sam’s charitable work earned him the 2012 Trop Rock Music Association’s “I Can” Award. 100% of the income Sam gets from CD sales, tips, and gig fees goes directly to charity and his consulting company Suntronics, Inc. matches those donations. Sam will be releasing his third CD prior to appearing at Laid Back Attack.

Playing music, salmon fishing and sailing are the favorite pastimes of Tacoma resident and PHoPS member Dave Calhoun. His interest in music began at the age of nine when he started taking piano lessons and playing guitar. In the 1970’s Dave was selling insurance by day and playing gigs as a solo artist at night. It also was around this time that he really got into the music of Jimmy Buffett. In 2006 he released his first CD “Love Dot Palm”.
