USO Northwest

For over 50 years, the USO Northwest (USO-NW) has strengthened America’s military service members by keeping them connected to family and loved ones throughout their service to the nation. USO-NW continues this critical mission by serving more than 750,000 military and their families annually throughout Washington and Oregon. USO Northwest provides a home away from home by offering a safe, comfortable, and relaxing lounge as they prepare for or are returning home from deployment through three USO Centers located at Sea-Tac International Airport, Joint Base Lewis-McChord and Portland International Airport. USO-NW also serves our military and their families through two USO Mobile Canteens that expand our service delivery by offering the military the same best-in-class support we provide at our stationary centers, but in the field during training, pier side for deployments and homecomings, and throughout military locations in the Pacific Northwest. USO-NW continuously adapts to the needs of our men and women in uniform and their families, developing new programs and services to support those who need it most, including morale-boosting and family-strengthening programs, deployment and redeployment support to help servicemen and women adjusting to the duty ahead, resiliency training for families facing multiple deployments, as well as discreet and compassionate escorts and other support for families of the fallen.
USO Northwest is not a government agency, but a private, nonprofit organization that relies on the generosity of individuals, organizations, and corporations to support its activities. USO Northwest does not receive any government funding. For more information, or to make a tax-deductible contribution to USO-NW, visit us online at

Emmit’s Magic Animal Rescue

We are a small nonprofit animal rescue located in Olympia, Washington. Our mission is to rescue, foster and locate loving homes for unwanted and abandoned pets. All of our services are volunteer based and funded by donations.

Animals surrendered by the public get the veterinary care, microchip, vaccines and spay/neuter surgeries that they need to be healthy, adoptable pets. We work with local animal shelters to house shy or medically needy animals in a home environment. We also work with the Thurston County Cruelty Investigator to offer the best possible placement option for pets recovering from abuse and neglect.

Our organization does not have a shelter facility. Pets in our rescue are housed in foster homes, with families that care for and include each pet in their daily lives. We do not have rows of kennels to show our available pets. We have dogs on sofas, cats in window sills, and rabbits in grassy back yards. We take the concrete-and-chain-link experience out of the adoption process.

We use an application process that identifies the needs and wants of each prospective adopting family. This helps ensure the best possible match of family to pet. The application process allows families to think about the commitment they are considering, and prompts awareness of the adjustment period for a rescued animal in their home.

Although we work hard to save and re-home as many pets as we can, our focus is meeting the needs of each animal and ensuring the best possible placement. We believe there is a home for every homeless pet. One by one, we are here to help them find their forever family.
